1. Pushing - Accurate and Controlled

Players pass the ball along the arrow and then run around markers where the dotted line is.

Coaching Points:

  • Left hand at the top of the stick and right hand 20-30cm below (use the grip as a guide).
  • Bend from the knees for a low center of gravity
  • Legs apart (shoulder-width) and be balanced
  • Left side of the body should be facing where the ball will be passed

2. Relay with Left hand and Right hand

2. Relay with Left hand and Right hand

Coaching Points:

  • Top exercise is the Left hand and the ball is dribbled on the back stick on outside of the body
  • Bottom exercise is the Right hand and the ball is dribbled with two hands on the fore stick on the outside of the body.

3. Dribbling

3. Dribbling

A - Fast Dribble - Markers 1m apart
B - Controlled Dribble - Markers 30cm apart
C - Change of Direction - Markers 2m apart and 1m wide

Coaching Points:

  • Hands apart (Grip as guide)
  • Left hand does all the work when stick turns over
  • When dribbling at speed, ball should be kept further from the feet outside the right side of the body

4. Stay in the Square

4. Stay in the Square

All players have a ball in a 10x10 meter area. Must dribble around the square without loosing control of the ball

Coaching Points:

  • Vision (Players turn before collision)
  • Close ball control
  • Player movement

5. Straight Relays

5. Straight Relays

Players dribble the ball in a straight line to each end and the next player dribbles it back

Coaching Points:

  • Ball position
  • Vision
  • Tight control (ball on stick)
  • Grip

6. Cross Over Relays

6. Cross Over Relays

Same principle as the straight relays, but now the players have to run across avoiding the other team.
IMPORTANT: make sure all players keep head up and do not run too fast.

7. Occupying an Empty Goal

7. Occupying an Empty Goal
  • Similar to musical chairs - mark off a circle around 15m in diameter using about 10 cones
  • The cones designate five goals. Each player has a ball and they dribble in any direction around the circle formed by the goals
  • After you give a visual signal the players try to occupy one of the goals
  • Who ever does not succeed gains a point, winner is the player with the least points

8. Precise Passing After Dribbling

8. Precise Passing After Dribbling

Four players pair up and form a square, the partners adjacent to one another. The two players in diametrically opposite corners each have a ball.

At the same time they dribble forward and pass the ball to the left through the cone goal of their partner. After pushing they keep running forward to the unoccupied goal.
